Skype of Business is a professional online meeting solution that offers instant messaging, video conferencing, calling and document collaboration into a single, integrated application. This enterprise software was developed by Microsoft to be integrated into the Microsoft Office suite, allowing you to sync your contact lists from Microsoft Exchange Server and Microsoft Outlook. All your messages, calls, and documents are kept in the corporate intranet by the Skype for Business Server. While it is designed for corporate use, this application takes up only 69 MB of hard disk space. Skype for Business is compatible with Android 5.0 and newer, as well as iOS, Windows, and Mac OS X. 

Communication and security features

The productivity features offered in Skype for Business are designed to build stronger communication skills between users. Beginning with the layout, the conversations are displayed in tabs. This enables you to see which of your contacts has recently sent a message, requested a call, or shared a document. You will also see that each user or contact has his own status update which lets all his contacts know if he is available, facilitating a video conference, or holding a webinar. 

All files that are sent through Skype for Business will be automatically formatted, allowing you to see the file’s name, size, and contents. By long-pressing over the document, you can see a glimpse of the file and other commands such as download and delete. Frequent users of Skype will notice other familiar features such as the app sounds, presence indicators, buttons and icons. The difference between this app and its commercial counterpart is that it includes features from Lync, Microsoft’s former unified communication solution. 

One feature is the Quick Action keys. They’re a series of icons that allow you to request a call, send a message, and see contact information in one tap. You can find other commands on the Skype Meeting window. With various calls, texts, and documents passing through its server, Skype for Business keeps conversations private with the Transport Layer Security and Secure Real-time Transport Protocol. Together, they encrypt messages between its users and other instant messaging apps.
