Haunted Manor 2: The Horror Behind the Mystery is a free point-and-click puzzle game for Android created by Tiny Games Srl. The game takes place on the famed Sterling family estate. Simon Sterling, presumably the estate’s wealthy custodian, has died under suspicious circumstances. Your job is to explore the estate and find out what happened there. With any luck, you’ll be able to free Simon’s spirit from the physical world and escape with your life.
If you like puzzle games that employ the classic point-and-click mechanic, try also enjoy Merge Mansion. This is probably one of the most popular games and offers numerous ways to keep you entertained. If you like the idea of escaping a mansion but prefer a more RPG-type layout, try Escape the Ayuwoki Horror Fort.
Point-and click
This is one of the oldest forms of Android puzzles. Point-and-click puzzles present you with a number of seemingly still images of particular environments. You, then, need to untangle the mystery by tapping anywhere on the image where you think a clue may be hidden. The benefit of this type of gameplay is that a developer can use high-quality images without making them dynamic or using three-dimensional scenes to create an environment. Haunted Manor 2: The Horror Behind the Mystery has numerous secrets to unlock, and the environments are well-laid out.
Graphics
Since the game functions mostly with still images, the graphics are stunning. Each image, even though it’s clearly been created digitally, looks as though it’s been taken at one of the great manors or estate dwellings of America.
Even though the primary environments are still images, the developer has managed to work some form of dynamic movement into each scene, leading to an even more compelling and interesting hunt for clues. One issue with the setup of the game is that some rooms are far too dark within which to notice any clues.
Try-then-buy
Unfortunately, while listed as free, the game has numerous premium features. One of the most unfortunate is that unless you pay real money, you won’t be able to play the entire game. Many users have criticised this set-up. Saying that if each level was more clear and some rooms weren’t as dimly lit as they are, they may be more encouraged to buy the full game.
Solve the mystery
Even if you don’t buy the full game, Haunted Manor 2: The Horror Behind the Mystery will provide at least a few hours of fun and excitement. If you thrive on puzzles, give this game a go -- even if just to experience the thrill of getting close to solving the mystery of Simon Sterling’s death.
You’ll enjoy unravelling the story and finding items to help you on your quest. The only downside is that you need to pay for the premium features.
