Free survival horror game

Five Nights at Freddy’s AR: Special Delivery is the hit horror game franchise’s latest title. It has you facing animatronics, mechanic puppets come to life, and attempting to survive them. However, this time, they’re raiding your home as this game uses augmented reality and your location for planting monstrosities.

Scott Cawthon has been putting out parts of this franchise ever since 2014, making everything from songs to point-and-click video games much more frightening. The stories ranged from time travel to detective tasks and even spawned fan-made titles like One Night at Flumpty’s. Illumix Inc. developed Special Delivery, a survival horror game for mobile as a part of the series. It’s an AR project that brings the horror close to home—quite literally.

The latest addition

Innocent gone terrifying

Initially, the FNaF world revolved around Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, a restaurant featuring animatronics for entertainment. Later, the robots developed a business themselves, delivering the fun to your front door. However, something goes awry. The animatronics start malfunctioning and attacking the clients. All you can do is fight them in an attempt to survive.

FPS horror gameplay

As the dark, hostile creatures start invading your home, AR technology comes to your assistance in trying to get rid of them. The gameplay is rather straightforward, giving you a taser and flashlight as weapons.

You’ll use your mobile device to locate your enemies and disable them. However, these robots are sneaky, using cloaking devices and nasty tricks—making them challenging and engaging to fight. Apart from the combat, you can also reprogram the robots you disabled. If you do it right, you’ll have a personal animatronic army to use for defence.

Fantastic design

The AR tech on your Android or Apple smartphone makes the robots look exceptionally realistic, especially when placed in your home’s familiar surroundings. Plus, the sound design adds to the eeriness, immersing you in the fight for your life.

Next-level horror experience

Overall, Five Nights at Freddy’s AR: Special Delivery is a fantastic addition to the rest of the FNaF series. While it needs some polishing, the augmented reality takes the gameplay up several notches as the animatronics enter your home. It’s a must-play for any fan of the franchise and anyone else who enjoys atmospheric horror games with occasional jump scares.
