Alex Kidd - Secrets of Magic Review

About the game, Alex Kidd: Secrets of Magic is a fairly light game that does not consume too much storage area than some other titles in the genre. It is very popular in United Kingdom, Australia and China. The main character, Alex Kidd is a junior detective and his partner Joonas Regalis are another couple who work together investigating cases involving missing persons and magic. Joonas is the "intellectual" of the duo, while Alex is a street smart wannabe who does things "clumsily".
A major problem I had with Alex Kidd: Secrets of Magic is its lack of variety. The player rarely, if ever, has a wide range of options to solve the puzzle since all Alex's moves are just standard moves. In other words, Alex doesn't learn how to be an "intellectual", and he doesn't learn to improvise. He learns to rely on his wits, his instincts and his reflexes. Sometimes he makes mistakes, but these are pretty minor.
Despite Alex's minimalism, there are still enough hidden object scenes and secrets to keep you busy for at least 30 minutes. However, the lack of variety of the storyline is the only thing that makes these games repetitive. If you've played other hidden object games before, you know where this trend is going. And frankly, even if you're not a fan of hidden object scenes and puzzles, this one is still worth a try. But don't waste your time; it won't be very long before you're bored. Alex Kidd: Secrets of Magic is definitely a nice game to play, but make sure you don't spend your entire evening solving the same case.
