Versatile video editing tool for Windows
Screenshots
Thundersoft is robust, yet limited software for editing videoz in Windows. You can crop and trim footage, add music and effects, and export in a variety of formats.
Functionality
The first aspect you’ll notice when loading up the free version is a warning that footage will be watermarked. You’ll only be able to export one minute of footage, and some features can only be used five times. However, as there is no time limit, there is no rush to make the most of the software.
Clean interface
Loading up the Video Editor presents you with a colourful, straightforward UI with large buttons for various features. Once you select one, you’ll get taken to the workspace. Here, you’ll find you’ll be able to choose from all the options anyway. Selecting a function first is a bit weird, as this adds an unnecessary step to your workflow.
User Experience
Despite its limitations, Video Editor has a range of useful options, including playback speed, image correction, the option to add your own music, and a wealth of simple effects.
It’s easy to use and offers a frankly staggering array of export settings. Unfortunately, there’s no way to tell which features are affected by the five-times-only limit, other than to use the software.
Limited capabilities
There are plenty of video editing programmes on the market for little to no cost, so it’s tough to see what makes this free version of Thundersoft’s Video Editor worthwhile. The features it does have are good, but the trial limitations are too strict. Considering Windows built-in Movie Maker is also free and isn’t feature-locked, you’d be better off using that instead.
