Binu is the African tribal name given to the giraffe called the Giraffe. Giraffes can be called Binuhs, more commonly, because they're black rhinos like all other giraffes. However, this isn't entirely accurate because there are actually two different species of the Giraffe; the eastern and western tailed giraffe. The western tailed giraffe is the smallest among the two species of Giraffes and is also the least colored. However, because of its unique features, it is also the most popular and the most hunted by poachers.BiNu is a common given name for boys in Kerala state in southwestern India. It's a diminutive Indian Sanskrit word that means small butterfly or small nymph. The meaning of biNu is "semi-adult" in Hindi. BiNu was very common among the lower castes of the Brahmin society in southern India and it was considered shameful for a Brahmin to sport a tailed or binu, therefore, it was taboo for a male Brahmin to sport this hairstyle.
Mind is also a short form of binu sadanandan which means "born at the first summer of August". Sadanandan means "a fruit bearing fruit in August or at the beginning of August." Thus biNu literally means "born in the first summer of August." Although there isn't a strong proof when the 2nd month of August was chosen as a date for the birth of Bhai Dooj, but according to traditional chronology, Bhai Dooj is on the 7th day of August.
