Screen zoom software
ZoomIt is a free program developed by Sysinternals that allows you to magnify your computer screen. It also allows you to write on your computer's screen while providing other tools to assist in making the best presentations.
This free software is packed with many options like the ability to draw on the home screen. You can point out exactly what you want or type some information on the screen.
Plenty of options
You can even change the color of the letters that you place on the screen. The software also includes the ability to place a timer on the home if you want to hide the presentation until the program begins. Lastly, ZoomIt has guided zoom, which follows your mouse around.
User-friendly program
This app is pretty easy to use. While it comes with preset hotkeys like ctrl+1 for the basic zoom, when you open it for the first time, it offers you the option to change these hotkeys to something else.
You can either use the scrolling from your mouse to control the magnification, or use the up and down arrows on the keyboard. Additionally, ZoomIt runs in silent mode while it is not being used. Lastly, you can easily change the text's color by hitting the hotkey associated with it.
Alternatives
Magnifixer is a good option to counterbalance ZoomIt. While it doesn't have any of the other features provided by ZI, it can do 400x zoom, which is an impressive expansion to the 4x provided by the main option.
Virtual Magnifying Lens is not as powerful as Magnifixer, but it does offer an easy-to-use interface despite the outdated look. It is not the most attractive software to use for presentation because VML does not hide as ZI does.
Good for presentations
There isn't much bad to say about this program. While the other applications may have a few useful things that stand out, ZoomIt offers the most options. It's a very flexible piece of software perfect for working with presentations with its abundance of options and ease-of-use.
