Free operating system optimiser
Fransesco Saltori is the developer for Windows 10 Bloat Remover and Tweaker (BRT). It’s free to download and use on your Windows 10 computer.
You can configure the tool and use it as an interactive command-line interface to clean up and tweak your operating system. You need to be careful while using this program as you can’t reverse all the actions by using a system restore point. Actions apply to all users of the specific system. Another application you can use to optimise your system is Clean Master for PC Standard Edition or CCleaner.
A significant advantage of this software is that you can remove default apps like Edge, which you usually can’t uninstall. Unfortunately, cumulative updates can re-install these apps. Windows 10 BRW does this by dieting the internal system database.
Software features
Use the software to disable components to collect diagnostic and usage information, like compatible telemetry, device census, and inventory. It also erases the services that report data to Microsoft.
After you’ve made a backup of your registry keys, use the software to delete system services. The backup will let you restore Windows if anything doesn’t work. Increase your privacy by turning off features that threaten your personal information. It can be services like typing personalisation, app launch tracking, and voice activation.
Tech-savvy users can disable Windows Defender and remove its background services. If you have made system apps removable, Bloat Remover will also remove the Windows Security app. In addition, Windows 10 BRM allows you to remove OneDrive, hide its folder and prevent it from being re-installed.
The BRT also disables the following:
- Automatic updates, but not for Windows 10 Home.
- Error reporting, which means that there will be no check for solutions if any app crashes.
- Suggestions and cloud-based content like News and Interests.
- Feedback requests for group policies.
- Scheduled tasks, as specified by the user.
How to use
First, make sure to download and install the software. In the interactive command-line block, use the allowed or default values provided by the developer on its website. Always run a registry backup before making any system changes so that you can restore Windows if these actions break your system.
Powerful optimisation tool
Windows 10 Bloat Remover and Tweaker provides a configurable tool with many powerful options to optimise Windows. It lets you remove system apps and delete or disable unwanted processes. But since it uses a command-line interface, it isn’t recommended for use by beginners.
