SoftPerfect RAM Disk
SoftPerfect RAM Disk is a high-performance RAM disk app that allows you to have a disk on your computer that is entirely stored in its memory. Because the memory is much faster than physical hard disks, storing temporary data on a rapid memory disk attains a higher performance. Most modern computers are equipped with at least 1GB or 2GB of RAM. The unused parts of the RAM could be used as a high-performance alternative to the much slower HDD storage. SoftPerfect RAM Disk allows you create up to 26 virtual RAM disks limited only by the memory available on your system. You can also work with on-disk images and RAM disks associated with an on-disk file, which makes sure that your data is preserved between sessions. Key Features include: Supports up to 26 RAM disks. Any RAM disk size on 64-bit systems. Up to approximately 3.5 GB on 32-bit systems. Persistent RAM disks with an associated on-disk image. Volatile RAM disks whose content disappears on shutdown. Built-in disk image manipulation tools. Reduced file system fragmentation. SoftPerfect RAM Disk allows you to store any temporary information on the RAM disk. In addition, Windows can be configured to use the RAM disk for temporary files, so that the system and most apps would use the faster, in-memory disk for their temporary data, rather that the standard storage disk. This is mainly beneficial as Windows and other third-party apps often create a large number of temp files. By using a RAM disk you can extend your hard disk’s lifespan, as the temporarily files are not written to the hard disk, there will be fewer read/write cycles. *Please note, this is a 30 day commercial trial.
SoftPerfect WiFi Guard
SoftPerfect WiFi Guard is an superb tool for securing your modern Wi-Fi network. It is safe to say that ‘most’ modern Wi-Fi networks are well protected, but there are some weaknesses, which can compromise your Wi-Fi password, including vulnerabilities in encryption and brute force attacks. This can result in someone gaining unauthorised access to your Internet connection and exploit your LAN. Key Features include: Pings computers and other network devices and displays data on connected devices. Detects firewalled computers that do not respond to ping. Scans your network at a specified intervals. Immediately alerts you if an unknown device is located. Having your Internet connection exploited may not be that big a deal to some, however, what about a hacker reading your personal emails, stealing private data or breaking the law online whilst using your Internet connection? This is where a WiFi guarding utility such as SoftPerfect WiFi Guard comes into play. The app will alert you if your network is used without your knowledge. It can be configured to scan your network at set intervals and informs you if there is any new, unknown or unrecognised connected devices that could be a hacker. Overall, SoftPerfect WiFi Guard is a great tool for the security conscious. It is lightweight, easy to use, has a simple interface (albeit dated looking) and it provides key data on connection devices to your WiFi network. The only downside we can see, is that it only notifies you about potential issues, but doesn't provide auto block features etc. You still have to do that manually. Apart from that SoftPerfect WiFi Guard is great security app.
SoftPerfect Bandwidth Manager
SoftPerfect Bandwidth Manager is a feature rich traffic management utility for the Windows platform, which offers cost-effective bandwidth control based upon built-in prioritised rules. Bandwidth limits can be specified for each Internet user. This kind of application is known as bandwidth limiter or a traffic shaper. With SoftPerfect Bandwidth Manager, you can apply speed-throttling rules to specified IP and MAC addresses, ports and network interfaces without making any changes to your existing network infrastructure. Key features include: Centralised configuration from a single network location. Flexible, prioritised, bidirectional rules to specify maximum data rates and usage allowances. Rules for IP and MAC addresses, protocols, ports (for TCP/IP) and network interfaces. Transparency for end users with no client software installation required in most cases. Quotas, scheduler, email notifications and comprehensive usage reports. SoftPerfect Bandwidth Manager provides a cost effective solution to a number of issues, including network bottlenecking, inappropriate network use/misuse, and high internet costs. Overall, SoftPerfect Bandwidth Manager is a great app to monitor your network traffic and place limits on your Internet bandwidth in whatever way you need. By applying an app such as this, you can increase the efficiency of your network and make a reduction in your overall bandwidth usage.
SoftPerfect Connection Emulator
SoftPerfect Connection Emulator (SCE) is a WAN environment emulator for network app developers, system admins and network engineers. Software developers creating network-enabled apps, especially time-critical ones, such VoIP software or real time protocols, need to thoroughly test their products in a range of environments. Most apps work well on broadband connections, but what if an app will also be used on a low-speed communication link, like ISDN or dial-up? Key Features include: Supports multiple simulation profiles Runs on any PC with Windows XP or higher (32-bit or 64-bit).Restricts connection speed. Imitates fixed or variable latency. Simulates individual and sequential packet loss, corruption, duplication and reordering. Displays live packet simulation chart. SoftPerfect Connection Emulator is very useful in a number of circumstances. The app imitates a network connection with low bandwidth limits, latency and losses. With SCE you can test how well your application performs on slow or long-distance connections, in order to ensure the quality of your software. The app allows you to selectively apply bandwidth limits, introduce random or fixed delays on data flows, and simulate packet loss to mimic a low-grade communication channels. SoftPerfect Connection Emulator is available as an unlimited duration trial. The trial, however, has a maximum simulation session limited to 30 seconds. Overall, SoftPerfect Connection Emulator is a great tool, which performs its specialist task very reliably. It comes highly recommended for Windows-based developers that need to test apps under varying network conditions.
