Retro Gaming History - Eggnogg
Eggnogg is an exciting two-player, platform game with retro-style graphics. In this futuristic game two eternal swordsmen fight through a Mario-like dungeon. Each player is attempting to reach a certain goal within the Dungeon but to reach there they will need to avoid or beat their opponent, who is always trying to attack them first in order to win the game.
The fighting takes place in various chambers throughout the game, where the players alternate between various chambers. When the player finishes a room they move on to the next one, but once enough rooms have been finished the game ends and the player must start all over again from the beginning. However, each enemy is extremely difficult, the goal being to kill as many enemies as possible without touching the ground. The music, sound effects, and special effects are very reminiscent of Super Mario. It's a well-paced game that can be enjoyed alone or with another person; in fact, if you have a second player in the game can be played split-screen with each person playing a separate game.
In addition to the single player game, Eggnogg features multi-level head-to-head and multi-room tournaments. The multi-level head-to-head game involves the use of special eggs that when taken by a player causes them to jump up and down. These special eggs then send other players flying and creating an air bubble on the screen. These bubbles push players to another level where more eggs are needed to create an air chamber. The winning player is the one who creates the largest bubble by using more eggs than any of his opponents. This gives Eggnogg a nice competitive advantage, especially considering the competition at its higher levels.
