Command & Conquer 3: Nations Rising is the latest release from the popular entertainment brand Electronic Arts. With all of their other high quality games getting a release every year, it is no surprise that this one has been given a second chance by EA. It is a remastered version of the first Command & Conquer game and promises gamers an experience that is not only pure fun, but also one that is rich with strategic elements that will keep gamers interested throughout the game play. In my opinion, the major highlight of the game comes in the four episodes, which cover each of the four factions involved in the war: The United States of America, Russia, China, and Austria. This provides each of these teams with distinct qualities, as well as a wide variety of mission types, to ensure that they will never get stuck playing the same missions over again.
The main focus of the gameplay in the new version of Command & Conquer is on multiplayer combat. This has always been one of the major weak points of the original game, but has been completely redesigned in the new version. The new game play allows you to engage in battle not only against the other players but against the single player game mode as well. The game now uses a new tech tree similar to that of the multiplayer experience, and is even more detailed than the single player campaign. All of the information is constantly fed through to your screen, giving you the ability to quickly know what your next move is going to be. The graphics have also been completely upgraded and run smoothly on both the PC and the consoles.
Command & Conquer 3: Nations Rising will be released for the PC in October, with the consoles following a bit later. For those of you that are not familiar with the Command & Conquer series, I can assure you that you will not be able to appreciate this remaster much, if at all. It is extremely different from the first Command & Conquer game and gives a whole new perspective to the fans of that series that have been left behind by the original games. A few new features have been added to the multiplayer portion of the game, including a tutorial option that will teach you the ins and outs of the actual game play, and give you a good idea of how to play.
