Collaborative screenwriting tool
Powerful writing, planning, and outlining software
Celtx allows you to organise, plan, and share workflows related to your project. It could be for a film script, production notes for a videogame, or any number of other creative ideas.
Online script collaboration
User interface
When you first sign up to Celtx, you're asked to input your industry, experience, and team size. You can then choose which type of project you'd like to open, plus upload an existing script. The workspace is sleek and uncluttered, with helpful tips to make the experience as painless as possible.
Features
Celtx offers real-time collaboration, a project command centre, team permission settings, and dedicated customer support and training. There's an exchange to find collaborators, and the Production tab opens up existing projects from other users. Everything is geared towards partnership.
Subscriptions
All of the above features are available in the free version of the software but, as you'd expect, there are paid subscriptions with additional features. There's a scriptwriting package that includes script, screen and stage play formats, and an offline mode.
Next, a Video Production plan comrpises a shot list, breakdown, and scheduling options. Finally, the Game Production plan contains interactive features. Every subscription supports up to 10 projects.
A robust project management tool
The software can seem daunting at first, so there are also extensive guides to help you get to grip with your project. The free version contains enough features for a small team of creatives, but if you run a sizable business, you'll need one of the subscription plans.
Celtx runs smoothly in most browsers, more especially in Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. Although there is similar production software available (eg. Writerduet and Trelby), Celtx is easily one of the best.
