This mod is an addon to the well-loved classic strategy game that adds the ferocious Viking Norsemen into the medieval conquest experience. You’ll witness the absolute wrath of these Norsemen and explore a new facet of the medieval age.

They came from Scandinavia
Wrath of the Norsemen Mod centres primarily around the Viking age of medieval history. This was a time when the vast and ferocious Norse tribes ran rampant all over Europe. To try and emulate these turbulent times in history, the mod adds over a dozen new factions from the various Viking tribes. You’ll lay waste to medieval Europe and play with iconic factions such as the Slavs, Rus, and those hailing from the Frankish Empire, to name but a few.
Gameplay
Wrath of the Norsemen Mod draws a lot of inspiration in terms of gameplay mechanics from other iconic mods. This culminates in incredibly diverse behaviour from your AI opponents ranging from diplomacy and cunning strategy to aggressive and combative war tactics. The mod does, however, have a number of glitches.
Most notably, the animation of the mod's custom weapons is a little off, affecting the swing of an axe and the way javelins behave when thrown. These are, however, minor inconveniences in the broader spectrum of a truly magnificent and feature-rich mod.
Historically accurate
If there’s one thing Total War has always done well, it’s attention to detail in terms of historical accuracy. This mod, even though developed by a third party, is no different. Every single one of the custom factions that the Wrath of the Norsemen Mod introduces starts out in their known historical regions and settlements.
To aid in this quest for realism and historical accuracy, the mod also adds new maps of regions like Scandinavia and the Baltics. The game also adds in a few new sections of Western Europe, such as the Russian Steppes.
A total Viking experience for Total War
There are so many reasons why the Wrath of the Norsemen Mod is the perfect addition to your Total War mod library. Vikings are historically revered as a force to be reckoned with, and this mod gives you the chance to experience the source of that reverence.
You’ll go back in time and discover how the Vikings systematically took control of large swathes of Europe, culminating in many of today’s most famous regions, dialects and political rivalries. Even though there are a few minor issues with the mod, they don’t take away from the general playability.
