Are you looking for a feature-rich music player that won't consume your PC's resources? Trout may be the answer. This stripped-down audio player allows you to drag tracks or folders into its window and save playlists for later use. Trout supports a wide range of formats, including AIFF, AIF, AIFC, MP1, MP2, MP3, OGA, OGG, WAV, MO3, XM, MOD, S3M, IT, and MTM. If you need additional formats, you can install plugins.
Trout is much faster and lighter than Windows Media Player and iTunes while accepting more formats. It also syncs with your Last.fm account, allowing you to continue scrobbling from this little player. Additionally, it utilizes the freeDB resource for importing CDs and can minimize to the system tray. You can also toggle pop-ups with track information. Although Trout currently lacks an equalizer and library management, these features are planned for future versions. Despite its functional appearance, Trout remains a great little flexible player that won't strain your processor.
