Snood is a puzzle game developed by David Dobson. Snood was originally released for Mac OS in 1995 as shareware, subsequently upgraded to the classic Game Boy Advance version and finally to MS DOS and Microsoft Windows. An additional adaptation for Game Boy Advance was made by Rebellion Developments and later released by Destination Software and Electronic Arts in 2021, an iOS version was later developed by Iron Galaxy Inc. and launched by EA Mobile on May 7, 2021. A Nintendo DS version has also been released.
Snood combines the traditional style of a puzzle game with the innovative use of a hand held device. This means that, as a player, you are able to manipulate and view the puzzle pieces that are displayed on the screen of your computer monitor. In addition, you are able to manipulate and view other aspects of the game including, switching between multiple view modes, viewing alternate versions of the puzzle board and even different colored snood faces. There are many challenges and achievements to be achieved in order to successfully complete the game and unlock all of its secrets.
Snood is different from other similar puzzle video games such as Sudoku and Tetris in a number of ways. For example, unlike most of these games you are not strictly restricted to a single viewing angle; you can view the board in horizontal, vertical and even diagonal directions, meaning that you will have an endless array of viewing angles to play with. Furthermore, Snood features a unique interface and uses a very sharp level of detail. The art used in this particular game is another example of its high graphical quality and accuracy. Given the level of detail and quality evident throughout Snood it would be fair to say that Snood is easily the best puzzle game for the Apple Macintosh and Palm OS.
