Share Location Plugin
The Share Location Plugin is a free Android application developed by siacs.eu. It is a plugin designed to add location sharing capabilities to the open-source Jabber/XMPP client Conversations. The plugin is specifically created to address the design principle of Conversations, which aims to require as few permissions as possible. Some users may not feel comfortable with Conversations accessing their device location at any given time.
Furthermore, the Share Location Plugin heavily utilizes Google Play Services and the Google Maps API to enhance the user experience. This includes improved location detection using cell towers and the display of an actual map to verify the user's position. These features are not suitable for the mainline Conversations application.
To use the Share Location Plugin, you need to have Conversations version or higher installed. Once installed, Conversations will display a "Send location" option in the attach menu, alongside the "Choose picture," "Take picture," and "Choose file" options.
