Raft is a first-person survival PC game developed by RedBeet Interactive and published by Axolot Games. The entire game takes place in the middle of the ocean after you survived a plane crash. With islands miles and miles away, you will need to catch resources that float towards your way or swim beneath you. The items you catch can help you create a raft that can help you get on land, or a massive floating home that you can live in. You will also need to scavenge the reefs to find source food and water, but you will need to be careful as sharks tend to prey on humans.
Gameplay
Raft puts you in the perspective of a lone survivor lost at sea. Your only chance of survival is to hunt. Whether you’re fishing, scavenging, or building, you must always make sure to prepare for the worst. The things that can ruin your chances of survival are unpredictable weather patterns, shark attacks, or starvation. It is important to keep your inventory well-stocked as well as this will help you craft all sorts of items such as fishing rods, garden, drinking water, fire pit, etc.
The beginning of the game will be a painstaking process of using an old plastic hook to pull random pieces of planks and debris. While it may be slow, it is an important step to expanding your raft. The larger it is, the more leverage you have over shark attacks. This is also a way you can begin receiving sustenance. As the game progresses, you can put up walls, stairs, and a roof over the raft.
The shelter can be large enough to be considered a buoyant mansion. To get more out of your resources, its best to craft a research table. This will present to you a menu of items you can build. You can also enlist a friend’s help by playing co-op mode. The primary benefit of multiplayer mode is inventory management. With the help of one or two players, you can gather more resources and procure more items. You will also have an extra set of eyes to see any oncoming predators.
