Free photo editor with background blur
Blur Photo Editor is a free photo effects app that is great for people that have never attempted to edit photographs. It has several features that allow the manipulation of an image. These include the ability to blur the background and add frames, wings, and other features.
Developed by SmartVeteranApps, the app is free for a basic level, but the more advanced features are only available through a paid Pro option. Other apps that are similar include ImageChef, Photo Wonder and PicsArt Photo Editor.
To manipulate a photograph in Blur Photo Editor, first, take a picture with the camera or choose a picture from your gallery. Once you have chosen a photo, you can begin playing with the effects, and when you are satisfied with the new image, save it back to your device.
To create the effect
Touch blur
In this feature, you select a photograph and the brush size with which you will blur. Then, use your finger to drag the brush across the screen. Where the brush passes, the image will blur.
Lens blur
Selecting this option lets you select a photo and then use the Lens function to change the image. You can set the lens size to use and then either blur or create a vignette that darkens the area of the photo outside the lens perimeter.
Spiral
Selecting the Spiral option allows you to add spirals, splashes of colour, borders and wings to your image. There are many options to choose from; all you do is select the spiral, splash, or wings and size them and place them on the photo.
Portrait Mode
There is also a portrait mode that lets you take a photo and add bold splashes of colour in one of many different shapes.
Effects
The app allows the use of many different effects that change the image. There are over 90 different effects that can be applied.
