Mr. Hopp's Playhouse 3 is the third installment in the franchise, being the first to use 3D graphics to add a new level of horror to the gameplay. The game is developed by MOONBIT, and continues the story from previous titles.
There are many great horror games available, as well as franchises with sequels to keep you terrified for hours. Five Nights at Freddy's 3 is one of these games, a part of a series that explores the story over each game. LIDAR.EXE and Backrooms of Reality are two horror titles that induce fear with unique mechanics.
Three-dimensional horror
The three dimensional aspect introduced in this title offers deeper immersion. The hallways feel wide and empty, waiting to throw a scare at you as you wander through them from puzzle to puzzle. The graphics, while low and minimalistic, are an eerie experience that forces you to act fast instead of linger.
There are gems to collect, which offer a good distraction from the horror and from progress. LOse too much time and you may find a jumpscare around the next corner.
Mr. Hopps
Mr.Hopps is the game’s main fictional fear factor and antagonist, the horror haunting you as you explore the halls of the playhouse. Mr. Hopps is designed as the toy that scares your character, and this is his role in the story except he’s come to life.
You’ll encounter Mr. Hopps several times as you play, with him being found hiding in the shadows or stalking behind your character. Mr. Hopps is a source of many of the game’s jump scares, and will chase your character down hallways for some portions of gameplay.
Hidden horrors
Mr. Hopp's Playhouse 3 is one of several games in the Mr. Hopps’s Playhouse series. The title introduces new mechanics and puzzles using its 3D design. However, the graphics are styled after older game consoles, giving it an eerie retro aesthetic. These graphics are different compared to previous games in the series which used 2D pixel art.
The title is minimalistic due to its retro design, having low system requirements to run smoothly. The puzzles you encounter are easy to handle, but will require you to act fast due to the pressure of Mr.Hopps looming over your character.
