Original Journey is an indie sci-fi adventure game developed by Bonfire Entertainment. It takes place on the dangerous Planet Shadow, where players assume the role of a rookie soldier. Armed with weapons and mech armor, players explore a hand-drawn world filled with dangerous aliens.
The game features impressive 2D hand-drawn art, giving it a unique visual style. Players start with a short tutorial section before diving into the action. The levels are procedurally generated, offering different turret placements, weapon choices, and intense action. However, at times, the screen can become cluttered with enemies and detailed stats, which may be a minor annoyance. Despite this, Original Journey is a successful game, with its rogue-like/RPG elements adding a sense of progression and freshness. The upgrade trees and weapon collections contribute to the overall experience. While the plot lacks depth, the focus on action makes it a stylistic choice.
