VueScan is quite handy because, you can use it without making any changes to your computer or any existing scanner applications you may already have. Key features include: Easy to use: Preview and scan. Accurate colors: Uses ICC profiles and IT8 calibration. Powerful: Stacks of options. Fast workflow:can edit one image while the next image is being scanned. Overall, VueScan is simple application to use, which has a good set of options. The image scanning functions are as you would expect and there are few useful tools, such as the ability to restore faded colors. The only downside we can see is the trial version leaves a watermark on your images, which is obviously removed once a licence is purchased.

It does have all the basic editing tools within easy reach and allows you to apply some nifty effects without any specialized knowledge.
