Kill the Dragon is a free, story-driven adventure created by Wallace Lovecraft. This single-player explorer combines horror with a cartoon twist. In this story, an RPG made with RPG Maker, players go on a quest to find and ultimately kill a dragon. Every choice made can potentially lead to your death. As a result, gamers must remember the choices they have made to progress the game further.
The creator of this RPG has a large following on Twitter, Instagram and YouTube. Wallace Lovecraft also has a website where you can check out additional art pieces and comics. This RPG adventure has a similar artistic flair as other works by this artist, including the comic The Wonderful Sea (2017). Itch.io lists Kill the Dragon as related to Sort the Court! and Parsnip.
What is it like?
Players begin with a series of choices like, ‘Which way to go’? The pond, the forest and the tall grass are your options. Depending on which way you go, you can run into an obstacle that immediately kills you.
Then, you’ll have to start over. The deaths are often gruesome but also funny. Additionally, there are multiple endings and pathways for you to enjoy. The child-like art adds to the humour.
Availability
You can download this experience for all major operating systems: macOS, Windows and Linux. This RPG is also available for all three platforms in English, French and Simplified Chinese. The total size of the download is small, so it shouldn’t take long for most users to download it.
If downloading the game isn’t an option, players can enjoy it on the web via HTML5. However, some users have experienced problems with doing so because parts of the screen are hidden.
