Age Calculator implements different regression models, which are based on many different statistical techniques including, logistic regression, and analysis, principal components analysis and continuous weight estimates. Most models are fitted to the data with maximum precision within a span of about two to three decades. The method of regression is based on the assumption of the intercept and treatment effect, which are introduced into the models through historical data. It can also be used to estimate parameters such as the level of survival, time of life at risk, the impact of possible medical interventions, potential disability and the impact of natural death and if one has any missing values then these estimates which are then compared with the outcome of the potential treatment with respect to the actual expected value of life at the time of the occurrence of the event.
The calculator will estimate life expectancy at different ages by various assumptions and this will help in making decisions on the best possible medical treatment as per the current state of health of the patient. It is believed that the calculator is capable of predicting mortality, morbidity and longevity as per the current conditions of health for men and women of all ages in the same population at the time of the occurrence of the event for various plausible statistical scenarios such as, a high mortality, low morbidity and high longevity at the same age. Some of the factors which are taken into consideration while calculating are: the total number of person-years at risk (LOY), the total lifetime duration of the person (LTD), average age of the person (AASE), the ratio of age at death to lifespan at time of arrival, the percentage of people alive at birth, the proportion of people surviving after age 90 years at the total population level and the average number of years spent in education by the population of the country.
