Virtual CD-ROM Control Panel
Virtual CD-ROM Control Panel is a useful utility that enables Windows XP, Vista, and Windows 7 users to mount ISO disk image files as virtual CD-ROM drives. Being able to use a Virtual CD-ROM rather than a physical one, has a number of useful advantages, namely, being able to read disk images and install software or recover backup files, without messing around with multiple disks. Virtual CD-ROM Control Panel creates a virtual CD drive on your hard disk. Accessing it is simple, just double click your mouse! The app is small, lightweight and optimized for efficiency. It is also portable, and can be copied and ran from any USB flash drive, and it does not make permanent alterations to the system registry. The user interface is standard, with all of the functions in the main window. Drives can be added, or removed. You can mount or remount a CD, and also eject it. Using the app is straightforward enough; simply select the image you want to mount and it does the rest! It is worth noting that first time users should follow the notes in the Readme file though, to familiarise themselves with the processes involved. Overall, if you’re looking for a simple way to create a virtual CD drive, Virtual CD-ROM Control Panel does the job without attacking your system resources in the process. Please note: This utility is not required by users running Windows 8, as Windows 8 natively supports ISO files.
