J2 Interactive (Free)

A media player with a customizable interface; it can play a variety of video files. That, coupled with the fact that all features are unlocked in the free version, make this app, one of the best in class.
Play any video format
Once downloaded, MX Player gathers all the clips on your phone and place them in folders. This way, you can see what you have and play it anytime. It supports pretty much every format, so if you happen to have converted your file, it’d still work.
There are many themes available so that you can customize the interface. The controls and adjustments are also comprehensive. They let you do a lot of things like adding subtitles and changing visuals. The problem with this is it doesn’t pause the video for you while adjusting.
The app uses both HW and SW decoders to make your playback more efficient. What they do is making your videos smoother. The quality still relies on the actual file - this isn’t an enhancement feature.
While performance is fast, this app drains your battery and RAM. Watching two consecutive movies will overheat your phone.
A slight upgrade over the default player
MX Player is useful for people with the urge to keep everything in one place, or if you don’t have any interest in listening to music or care about phone battery. The software works and does everything it’s supposed to do. The thing is that your Android already does most of the functions, i.e. play the video.
