Mobile finance
GCash is a mobile financial services application published by Mynt (Globe Fintech Innovations). It runs on Android and functions as a networked wallet client that communicates with payment processors, banking rails, and merchant systems. The application authenticates accounts through mobile number registration and identity verification workflows.
The GCash Wallet maintains stored value balances and transaction records; InstaPay Bank Transfer, which routes transfers through the Philippine interbank infrastructure; and BillPay Services, which indexes registered billers and payment references. The application connects with external networks to process merchant payments while recording transaction data and authentication logs in backend services.
GCash account creation begins with mobile number registration followed by identity verification through the Know Your Customer (KYC) Verification module. The system requests Philippine-issued identification and biometric selfie capture before enabling higher transaction limits and additional financial services. Verification workflows transmit identity images and metadata to backend validation systems. However, full verification remains restricted to Filipino citizens or individuals possessing eligible Philippine identification documents, which limits account capability for foreign users without qualifying credentials.
Digital wallet
Funds enter and exit the wallet through banking rails, card channels, and physical service partners. The Cash-In Module records deposits originating from linked banks, debit cards, remittance partners, or over-the-counter outlets. Transactions exceeding ₱8,000 per month through over-the-counter deposits trigger a 2% service fee recorded during settlement. Bank transfers execute through InstaPay Bank Transfer, which forwards payment instructions to Philippine financial institutions and applies a typical ₱15 transaction fee.
Merchant transactions integrate QR payment infrastructure and card networks. The Alipay+ QR Payment Network resolves QR codes scanned by the mobile client and routes payment authorization to partner merchants across supported regions. For physical and ATM transactions, the GCash Card links wallet balances to Visa or Mastercard processing networks, enabling withdrawals or point-of-sale authorization globally. Cross-border wallet registration through GCash Overseas Registration accepts international mobile numbers from supported countries but still requires Philippine identity documentation.

GCash operates as an Android mobile wallet client connected to banking networks, merchant payment infrastructure, and identity verification services. Core components include stored-value wallet management, InstaPay bank routing, bill-payment indexing, and QR-based merchant settlement via Alipay+ integrations. The platform also connects wallet balances to global card networks through a physical payment card. Identity verification requirements tied to Philippine documentation and several transaction service fees remain operational constraints.
