Fighting for chicken rights
Chicken Invaders 4 Thanksgiving adds a thanksgiving twist to the shoot 'em up series inspired by retro arcade video game Space Invaders. The chickens (not turkeys) have staged a revolution against being eaten every holiday season, and you must put them back in their place (on the table ready to be eaten). This storyline is revealed in a slightly lengthy, Star Wars style scrolling text introduction.
For fans of the birdy series, Chicken Invaders 4: Ultimate Omelette will seem pretty familiar. Continuing on with the poultry-themed vertical shoot 'em up gameplay, killing the chickens is again the ultimate aim of the game. To make this easier, you can collect power-ups along the way which upgrade your laser, meaning you can destroy the waves of chicken that come your way quicker and easier. Collecting keys unlocks even better weaponry upgrades.
The waves of chickens come in tons of different formations, keeping you on your toes the whole way through. These waves culminate in a big boss, which isn't as tricky to defeat as you might expect.
Chicken Invaders 4 lacks in originality, but it makes up for it in silly fun. It's easy enough for casual gamers, but with plenty to offer arcade fans. Not the best game you'll ever play, but good for passing the time.
