Free network scanner for Android
Angry IP Scanner is a freenetwork scanner for Android by developer Osama Eshmilh. This developer has used the original Angry IP source code and ported it to Android phones and devices. This makes it a unique proposal, unlike other scanners mostly geared only towards Wi-Fi network detection, such as WPS WPA WiFi Tester No Root or WiFi Map.
It’s mostly used to scan IP addresses and ports, which in turn will let you know certain details such as device name, manufacturer and other features. It’s a commendable effort since there are hardly any such tools for Android.
As much of the original as possible
The original Angry IP Scanner for Windows and Mac has many features like IP address pinging, hostname resolving, MAC address determining, port scanning and many other actions you can perform when it comes to network information gathering.
Angry IP for Android conserves many of those features, but given the nature of phones, it lacks others, such as displaying NetBIOS information. And it isn’t currently possible to save results to different file formats like CSV, TXT and others.
Straightforward interface
Angry IP Scanner is very simple to use. Just select an IP range and ports, and it’ll display information about connected devices, including whether they’re dead or alive. Then you can select one to view more information, such as opened ports.
This is incredibly useful when you need to troubleshoot network issues or gather info but have no computer at hand.
Unique in the truest sense
Angry IP Scanner is one of the few apps for Android that allow this kind of operation, which is good news for anyone in need of quickly assessing networking issues. Naturally, it also serves as an information-gathering tool for several purposes. Despite the name, you don’t need to be angry to use it, and the calm, green interface certainly works the opposite way.
Of course, you have to know what you’re doing, otherwise, this app will feel pointless. Unfortunately, it does not explain what it does, and it assumes you’re a pro user who downloaded this tool for a specific purpose.
