Space Hop: Episode 1 is a free visual novel like BNHA/MHA Valentines Dating Sim and (Don't) Open Your Eyes where you’ll make choices along the way that’ll impact the game. The protagonists are space hoppers that journey through space seeking adventure. The story is based on a webcomic the developer crafted while in college.
The game features the first episode in a volume of stories in the series. You’ll mostly see the tale unfold with text for dialogue so don’t expect combat combinations or special moves. The bare skeleton of the game is a novel with a plot that you’ll watch unfold.
Travellers in space
The storyline features two adventurers with different personalities in space. It revolves around each one’s ambition, while there’s also an element of family and relationships. Of course, you’ll also see a few rayguns to spice up the action element of the visual novel.
Meeting friends and aliens
While the two adventurers attempt to overcome their obstacles, they’ll meet people along the way. Some are friendly, while others are aliens trying to stop you from your quest. There’s also some magic in the story that brings the supernatural into a funny, action story.
Make your choices
As a visual novel, Space Hop: Episode 1 has gameplay that includes making choices during dialogue. There isn’t much variance in what will happen, but you’ll still enjoy playing the game until the end of the first chapter. The linear progression doesn’t provide many endings, as it will tie into future sequels.
Superb visuals
The one aspect of Space Hop: Episode 1 that stands out is the graphics. The designs and drawings are outstanding, and you can imagine how fantastic the webcomic series would have been. It brings the characters to life in a way that the developer can be proud of.
