Quintessential Media Player is a freeware Windows program designed by Paul Quinn. The software was first released in 1997. It supports several media formats including but not confined to Ogg Vorbis, AMP, and WMA. For the sake of simplicity, the software supports only Windows and as such, it is not compatible with Mac OS X. However, the software provides a Mac-like user interface for Windows users.
The software can be downloaded for free from the Internet. Once downloaded, it can be run using Windows only. One of the features of the program is its skins that allow the user to change the skins without losing the original sound file. The software allows the user to convert many audio formats such as AC MIDI, OPC tape, PCM, CD, and more. It also comes with various free language packs, which further increase the options of customizing the software.
Unlike some other freeware and shareware media players, Quintessential Media Player comes with a lot of features and options. Users can save and restore files using external hard drives or CDs, manage their audio library, and search for different languages and themes. Users also have the option of editing the skins using third party softwares such as Cool Edit. Although the freeware can be used as an effective media player with little customization, users are recommended to take the time to customize it with the appropriate language packs to ensure that the software can fully serve its intended purpose.
