LETHAL OMEN is a free first-person shooter (FPS) game developed by Alpine Arts. This retro action experience takes place in a summer camp, where players explore the location and uncover its secrets while battling various enemies. The game features low-resolution polygonal graphics reminiscent of early Tomb Raider games, and its interface is similar to Lone Survivor: The Director's Cut. However, the lack of an intro video or backstory adds to the suspense of the game, leaving players in the dark about their opponents.
Like straight out of a VHS, LETHAL OMEN's low-poly graphics and overall color scheme give it a dated look, reminiscent of old VCR or VHS player visuals. While this may not be impressive by today's standards, it offers a nostalgic trip for players familiar with classic video games. The game doesn't provide explicit instructions on what to do or where to go, with barriers limiting access to certain areas and hidden paths that players must discover on their own. Despite its seemingly random and unfinished appearance, LETHAL OMEN actually has a story and multiple endgame scenarios, ranging from the "true ending" to the creepier "mannequin ending."
In terms of audio, LETHAL OMEN almost completely lacks music, relying only on ambient sound effects and cues for interacting with the environment. This, combined with its short playthrough time, may leave players wanting more content. However, despite its simple and dated graphics, LETHAL OMEN manages to deliver a thrilling gaming experience with its straightforward controls, gameplay mechanics, and the intriguing mystery surrounding its "true ending."
