SquareDev has developed the Blocky Dungeon demo, compatible with Mac operating systems. The demo recently had a significant update with many exciting new features.
Blocky Dungeon is a puzzle game that lets you explore a dungeon that you create yourself. As a knight, you navigate through these dungeons to fight your enemies and collect treasures. It’s a strategy game where you need to plan your moves based on the situation. Another puzzle game for Mac is Passing By, where you explore and survive on various islands.
Changes in how you play
The new release makes use of unified controls. Before, the WASD keys were used for the knight and IJKL keys for the Tetris pieces. Now, you use WASD to control both the knight and the puzzle parts. Although it may seem confusing in the beginning, it does provide for smoother gameplay. It lets you choose which part you want to control at any given time. So, you’ll either handle the knight or the Tetris pieces, which allows you to plan your moves in advance.
Another helpful feature is the option to stop blocks from falling by themselves. This helps you to control the placement of the puzzle pieces with a soft or hard drop. But, if you prefer a challenge, you can disable these options.
The developer suggests specific settings if you struggle with the game.
- Disable auto-fall so that the blocks will only move when you want them to.
- When you enable line warnings, it prevents you from clearing a line with the knight in it.
- Choose the control option that works best for you from the controls page.
As this is a demo, the developer will add more features before releasing the completed game. For example, there are plans to include a tutorial mode to help users understand the basic mechanics of the game. Also, additional floors will be added for Quest mode with more enemies. The developer is also thinking of adding some experimental game modes. He encourages feedback and suggestions from all players.
Challenging strategy game
Blocky Dungeon Demo is a challenging strategy game where you build your own dungeon while fighting your enemies. The treasures you collect will help you to succeed in the various stages of the game. In the next release, the developer plans to include a tutorial mode, as the game can be hard for beginners.
