Users’ IP addresses are not available to people who have not been added as their friends. However, once they have been added, uTox does not hide the IP address as the uTox works as a peer-to-peer network. That said, for users who want extra security even with their friends, they can tunnel their connection using the software, Tor.

Despite its simplicity uTox is a useful app for users who want extra privacy and security when communicating with their friends. Adding friends to uTox is the only complicated part of using the app, and even that isn’t that difficult.
