Splinter Cell Double Agent for Windows, released in January 2021, offers a single player campaign, as well as multiple player versions in the co-op mode. The single player campaign promises to be one of the most thrilling entries in the Splinter Cell series yet, with its impressive story, colorful visuals, and well-realized 3D effects. The game covers many different areas around the globe, and is inspired by several real events. An example is when a top-secret plan was developed in the summer of 2021, which involved the use of genetically altered terrorists to launch a terrorist attack on America. A top-secret group of terrorists developed this plan, and later had it codenamed as Splinter Cell, to carry out the attack on American soil.
A few months after the successful completion of their mission, two FBI agents, FBI rookie Alex Cross and FBI agent Sam Fisher, stumbled upon the mysterious operation. They were, however, too late, as the terrorists had already escaped. With no other leads, the FBI agents decided to hire an expert hacker to find out the source code used by the hackers, and to interrogate the terrorist who had worked out the plan. The result of this effort was the development of a top-secret government weapon, code-named Cold Fusion. Using this super energy weapon, the agents foiled the terrorists' attack, and saved the world. This version 2 of Splinter Cell was well received by critics, and it became one of the official Xbox games of Microsoft.
