A text-snipping tool
SnipIT is a lightweight, free tool that sits as an add-on to your Internet Explorer browser. It has a single purpose of copying and pasting text onto your email client.
Simple function
Once you install SnipIT, you will not see an interface. Instead, it will go directly onto your Internet Explorer browser page. Then, when you select a piece of text and right-click it, it will show up as another of your options.
When you choose it, you can highlight the text you want to send via email. The tool will take you to your email client, where you'll find the selected paragraphs in a box, together with the website URL.
It doesn't copy images or other media files, but the text organisation and formatting will stay as they looked initially. If you’re looking for a more comprehensive tool, Droplr is a good option.
If you're not logged into your account, SnipIT will require you to pick a service provider and log in. Unfortunately, it doesn't support more obscure email addresses. If you find yours, all you need to do is add a title and the recipient to your pre-made message.
Quick and lightweight
SnipIT performs these tasks in seconds, sending you off to your email client and seamlessly preparing a message. It doesn't show any ads on its own, either.
This tool works only with Microsoft Windows, and the older versions of the OS. If you're on a newer operating system, you can try Greenshot, which is free for Windows users and packed with features.
According to their privacy policy, the only cookies SnipIT collects are those about the websites you copy from and your email. They don't sell any to third parties.
Unnecessary
SnipIT does what it’s supposed to rather well. However, if you’re using Windows 10, its built-in Snipping Tool will do the same for you. Regardless, SnipIT’s task is simple enough to do manually that no separate programme is necessary.
