JetBoost is a performance boosting app, which lets you maximize the power of your PC by shutting down unnecessary processes and services. With JetBoost, you can make the most of your computer’s performance by configuring it to focus on what tasks you need it to, i.e. a CAD app or a game. JetBoost is a ‘One Click Solution’ in that it is able to boost and restore your system by turning on/off processes/services with only one single click. It only takes you a few seconds to make your pc run at its fastest speed. JetBoost has a simple, yet elegant interface, which allows you to customize various scenarios for boosting the performance of your system. First off it detects active processes together with their footprint on the CPU and memory. This allows you to shut down immediately the ones that are taking up too many resources. The app also includes a list of the most common Windows services that are often running in the background without being of ‘mission critical’ importance and subsequently can be turned off. JetBoost also allows you to tweak the RAM and the clipboard periodically, as well as the disable automatic updates. Theses settings can be customized individually in order to give you a greater control over your PC. Once installed, you have to run through a series of questions to give the app a better understanding of your operating system requirements. This data will help PC Fresh optimize your system in a simple, concise way. The main app window show you six areas of interest: Services, Startup, Power Now, Speed, Customize, and Security and Power-Tools. In each of these areas, data can be analysed and tweaked to suit your specific needs. Overall, PC Fresh is an OK system tweak utility. The settings are presented clearly in a simple windowed environment. It is easy to use, simple to operate and can perform a number of neat tweaks and changes. The downside is that the app consumes a fair amount of resources; but if you have a powerful system, this shouldn't be too much of an issue? *There are some limitations in this trial version of the app.
SoundSwitch
Every PC supports several sound cards, or playback devices. In order to switch between the available devices you normally access the system settings and manually select a different option. Enter SoundSwitch! This little tool is a convenient system tweak that allows you to change the playback device using a keyboard shortcut. Once installed, SoundSwitch runs in the background and only requires a quick configuration to get up and running. You simply right-click on the icon in the system tray to open the settings window. With SoundSwitch you can easily select the preferred sound card simply by pressing a pre-specified hotkey combination, without going through system settings.
