John Romero's Daikatana - A Classic First-Person Shooter
John Romero's Daikatana is a classic first-person shooter game, developed by Ion Storm. The game is divided into four episodes, each set in a different location - Japan, Norway, Greece, and San Francisco. The plot revolves around the Daikatana, a sword that allows the wielder to travel through time. The player controls Hiro Miyamoto, a swordmaster from the future, who must take the Daikatana from the evil ruler of the world and fix history.
The game consists of 24 levels, and the gameplay is similar to other first-person shooters of the era. The player has to complete levels by killing enemies and solving puzzles. One of the unique features of the game is that the player has two sidekicks who help in battles and have their own health meters. The player can issue commands to the companions, such as attack, stay, get, come, back off, yes, no. Daikatana also has a Game Boy Color version, which was only released in Europe, with drastically different gameplay more reminiscent of a dungeon crawler.
