Free app for removing unwanted programs

Bloatbox is a free open-source tool from Builtbybel for Windows. Instead of manually shuffling through the entire apps list on your PC and removing each of these programs one by one, Bloatbox gives you a straightforward way to remove them in bulk or individually.

Everyone expects their brand-new PC to be powerful and fast. However, soon you will get nagged by the manufacturer’s software to download programs you don't need. These programs are always running in the background, using system resources. Bloatbox helps you get rid of unwanted programs, efficiently and fast. Other alternatives to Bloatbox are The PC Decrapifier and Debloat Windows 10.

Bloatware is usually optimisation software or creativity suites that have been installed by the device manufacturer without you knowing it. Surprisingly enough, even Microsoft installs bloatware, which are usually games and the Xbox companion apps.

What is bloatware?

How do I know if I have bloatware?

Manufacturers’ bloatware usually pops up when the device starts, and intermittently thereafter. There will usually be a trial version of an antivirus program, which regularly tells you that your PC is at risk.

Microsoft’s bloatware commonly runs in the background. However, even these bloatware software are updated in the background too. As a consequence, over time you may notice reduced storage space on your device and slower performance.

How do you use Bloatbox?

The main interface has three areas. On the left is a list of apps that Bloatbox has identified as bloatware. Look at the list carefully, as some software can be identified as bloatware when they aren't. Be careful not to remove perfectly legitimate apps that you do want to keep.

The centre section contains the controls for moving apps that you select in the left pane across to the right pane. It also contains the controls for deleting apps that you’ve marked for removal.

The right pane shows the apps that you’ve chosen to remove. Before you start the removal process, you can always move apps from the right to the left if you’ve mistakenly added one to the removal list.

Remove bloatware quickly

If you want to remove pre-installed apps in Windows 10, Bloatbox is the perfect app to use. The interface is simple, while the controls are large enough to easily use on a touchscreen. It’s a simple app that we highly recommend for keeping your computer with the essential apps that you need.
