Blanket Cat is a free indie game for Windows that explores the lives of two animals while the house owner is away. It features a petulant cat who meets a lost mouse, engaging in conversation. For more intense alternate games in this genre, you can try JOHN DOE +, Filia Regis and Misty Hollow.
You’ll click on the screen to progress to the next part of the conversation. There are a total of two choices to make, leading to six different endings. That means you’ll need to play the game again if you want to see how else the story can unfold. It will only take you about 35 mins to complete, depending on how quickly you work through the text.
Tale of a mouse and a cat
Welcome to a story where a witch called Baba owns a house and decides to head to the store for the day. Blanket Cat introduces Iggy as a black cat who loves to hunt and explore in the house. One day, it meets a mouse called Peep who is lost ad trying to find its way home. Iggy talks to him as they discuss life and the values of family.
Working through the conversation
The only gameplay element is reading through the dialogue between the main characters. When one line of conversation is done, you click on the screen to progress to the next one. There are different scenes depending on where the animals are at that time. Also, the graphics are pleasant to behold.
Different endings
There are six different endings for Blanket Cat. The one you’ll receive will depend on the only two choices you have in the game. Also, there are three unique routes the story takes, so you’ll need to replay it to discover the other endings. It helps if you create save points at the right time so you can go back and make a different decision instead of starting over.
A new furry family
Blanket Cat is a casual visual novel delight that will have you interested in seeing what happens next. The characters are pleasant, while their dialogue will keep your eyes tuned to the screen. Of course, you can just click through the conversation if you want to end the game sooner.
There is a small element of gameplay when you explore the different rooms. However, the main diverging points are when you make decisions with only two choices in the game. You’ll also enjoy that there are six different endings.
