4LightData Base is a utility database with integrated word processor, spreadsheet, and drawing. The program can handle large amounts of data using the 4D database engine. It gives access to the engine's Import, Export, Quick Report, Query, and Formula editors which allow manipulation and reporting of the records.
4LightData Base has a very good introduction to the editors, which can be found in the 4D QuickStart Guide. Additionally, word processor, SVG drawing, and spreadsheet features have been added to the database. It is now possible to merge form letters, drawings, and spreadsheets with the database records.
Data can be entered by hand or imported from a delimited text file. The look of the list and entry forms can be changed from the default settings to enable easier viewing and entry.
A collection of functions is provided to allow changing, evaluating and printing selections of records.
4LightData Base offers guided access to some of the built in features of the 4D RAD/RDMS engine. Its main function is to allow a user to create a table structure, fill it with data, manipulate the data, and then review, report or export it.
