Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Soul Arena is a free-to-play game that is set in the Warhammer: Age of Sigmar universe. It is an auto battler game in which the player must arrange their warriors in the battle arena before the battle gets underway. Once it starts, the player is essentially a spectator.
Auto battler games are heavily inspired by chess, as can be clearly seen in other auto battler games, like Chess Rush and Might and Magic Chess Royale. These are turn-based games where the player will need good tactics to succeed.
In Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Soul Arena, the player must choose their units carefully. They will need to choose a captain and a selection of other units to do battle with. Once the battle has started, the player becomes a spectator, watching to see if their tactical decisions were good. The last unit standing wins for their team.
This game takes place in the Warhammer universe, specifically the Age Sigmar part of that universe. Despite the vast amount of media already in this universe, it is not necessary to have played or consumed other Warhammer games or media to understand this game, so new players should not be put off by the Warhammer name.
While players should not be dissuaded by the Warhammer label if they are not fans of the franchise, the game is likely to hold more appeal to people who are fans of Warhammer. That being said, it is a well-made auto battler that should be fun for anyone who enjoys this genre of game.
