Those Nights at Rachel's by Kelsie Woolard
Those Nights at Rachel's is a unique, sexy, and extremely well-written novel about five "nightly wonders" that happen to the young single, college-aged woman who lives across the country in Iowa City, Iowa. This novel is not for the faint of heart, nor are the stories very appropriate for the younger crowd. But those nights at Rachel's have made me feel like a sixteen-year-old boy again, just in time for my birthday! So, if you've ever been up to your bedroom, then I highly recommend this book.
The story begins at the college apartment of Rachel, who barely noticed her cat's sleeping in her bed, much less her husband's odd hours. She works long hours during the semester, and when she finally notices, the cats are gone. And so are her nights of rest from studying for her exams. Rachel's world starts to fall apart when her roommate decides she wants to take over the place, and Rachel discovers her true calling and destiny.
But these aren't your normal night's of dorm slacking, binge drinking, and sex with every guy you meet. This fated couple's nights are wrought with danger, mystery, and romance. I would imagine that this is a good read for mature adults, because although the premise is funny, there is a lot going on under the surface. Rachel's sometimes surprising strength also rubs off on the reader, as she doesn't seem capable of standing up to her roommate's sometimes unexpected power. There are definitely some steamy moments here, but I wouldn't say this is a romance or erotica novel. I give the final verdict: those Nights at Rachel's is a fun and fast paced college comedy with excellent character development and the story's pace never quick or jerky.
