Speedcam Anywhere is a free speed camera tool for Android that captures the speed of a passing vehicle and sends you a report via email. It also gives you data relating to how many vehicle violations were performed in that area for a specific area. It’s easy to use, as you can stop on the side of the road and record a video of a passing vehicle.
Apps that are closely related to some of the functions include GPS Map Camera, Spy Camera PRO and Waze - GPS Maps Traffic Alerts Live Navigation. However, none capture speeds in the same way as this app. Speedcam Anywhere has started a heated debate among residents in the UK about how its inaccurate information could be used against them.
Recording speeding vehicles
Many suburban areas suffer from speeding vehicles with drivers who are in a rush to reach their destination. Since there are no speed cameras in the area, they usually get away with it. With Speedcam Anywhere, you can take a recording of the cars passing by as evidence.
Speedcam Anywhere will analyse various components of the vehicle, such as the speed range and the impact on the air surrounding the car. You can also see a summary of typical speeds in your area, which is excellent for reporting to your local council.
Receiving reports
Once you have a recording of the vehicle, you can ask for a report to be emailed to you. It contains different aspects showing the average speed as the car passed you. However, you can’t use this report in court or for issuing a fine, as the method used to determine the speed isn’t recognised by authorities.
Disputed accuracy
The use of the Speedcam Anywhere app has caused massive disputes in some countries, especially in the UK. Residents have been up in arms about it, stating that incorrect data has been captured. However, the developers used tests to show how it works, revealing that the speeds recorded are correct.
Catch speeders in the act
Speedcam Anywhere is a good app to use when you want to check if anyone is speeding in your area. While you won’t be able to use it in a court case, you’ll have an idea of how many violations there are on your road within a specific period.
The idea behind the app was so that authorities can take speeding and accidents caused by it more seriously. However, the methods used haven’t been accepted as yet.
