Hero Academy is a two-player turn-based tactics game developed by Robot Entertainment. It is the first release in the series and is available for Windows. The game is focused on strategy and requires careful planning before each move. The gameplay involves moving units on a 9x5 square board and attacking enemy assemblies. The objective is to destroy the other player's crystal or to eliminate all of their units.
Players have five moves in each turn and are dealt a hand of units, spells, healing liquids, weapons, and armor. The hand is replaced at the end of each round with new units chosen randomly. The leaderboard shows the player's progress and the scores from the last battle. Customization options include team lists, avatars, upgrades, and taunts.
Hero Academy features six factions, also known as Heroic Teams: Council, Dark Elves, Dwarves, The Tribe, Team Fortress 2, and Shaolin. Team Fortress 2 and Shaolin are special editions, with the former being available to Steam users and the latter designed for Chinese players, due to the success of the game in China upon its initial release.
