Korean pop stars BTS takes the stage in a different way in this remarkably weird game. Featuring photos and video clips of the band, BTS World takes the form of a visual novel where you can choose the outcome of members’ stories.
What is BTS World?
K-pop has been taking the world by storm in recent years, and BTS is one of the most prolific boy bands. The group features seven members, all with their own quirks and unique style. BTS World lets you take on the role of their manager as you guide them through multiple adventures.
Presented as a visual novel, events play out similar to BTS Universe and other popular games like Kira Kira and XIX. You’ll be faced with dilemmas and make your choice via selecting the text, often in the form of conversation.
Alternate Reality Korean Pop Stars
BTS World takes elements from the groups’ lives but presents a wholly fictional experience. For example, you might choose to make one member a detective and another a hotelier. All the choices are incredibly strange, but not without charm.
There are several story paths to follow in the game, with the above being just one. You can also direct the band to global megastardom or send them to a magic shop where their memories open up new choices. If you’re familiar with the band or Korean pop music, none of this will surprise you.
Free to play
You can access almost everything in the game for free, but there are a few in-game currencies to keep track of. One is ‘wishing keys’, which you use to unlock special moving member photo cards and subsequently level up your Affinity.
Affinity is also linked with each band member. You can interact with them via unique events and thus raise your level, which opens up other events and so on.
A Unique Experience
There are no two ways about it: BTS World is a singular experience. If you’re a die-hard fan of the band or Korean music, it’s certainly worth playing. Otherwise, it’s borderline impenetrable and best left as an untouched curio.
