Aphotic Descent is an action game developed by Broiled Squid Studios for Windows. The game follows the story of a lone diver who manages to escape through a bathysphere and crashes down onto the sea floor after a rescue team sent by submarine to investigate a mobile research facility deep down in the ocean is hit by a sudden force. The diver must explore the depths of the ocean, journeying through various zones, from the sunlit surface zone to the twilight zone and finally the aphotic zone where monstrosities of the deep exist.
The game features diverse encounters with creatures, where every encounter presents a unique challenge that requires the player to adapt their skills and equipment in order to survive in tense environments. The player must gather scattered documents throughout the game, revealing the true nature of the world engulfing them and the horrific experiments conducted. Equipped with a powerful flashlight, a blacklight feature to reveal hidden clues, and a diving knife to defend against aggressive predators and destroy key objects to complete encounters, the player must suit up to face the unknown depths of the ocean. Aphotic Descent was developed by a team of students, and any feedback is greatly appreciated.
