What Is FrostWire?
FrostWire is an innovative and high-speed file sharing software solution for both uploading & downloading large files. It is a superior alternative to similar services like MegaUpload, Yahoo! Fret, Mediafy, FileZilla and others. FrostWire was created by a group of professional developers, headed by a former AOL employee, John Grace.
FrostWire is based on the open source developed by the Free Software Foundation and written in C++ using a Template Library called human. It has the advantage of not requiring any installer, being able to run on any computer and having a comprehensive list of features. Its main advantage over other similar programs, however, is its ability to stream audio and video. Even though it has many of the features of other FTP programs, the FrostWire has a few advantages of its own.
With FrostWire, you get the added feature of being able to convert any MP3 or video file into a FrostWire format, which is very useful for people who work on Mac computers. With this feature, you can easily transfer music, videos, photos or audio to a mac laptop or the typical Windows compatible PC. One of the major drawbacks of FrostWire that makes it less attractive than some other popular FTP services is that it doesn't allow you to work offline. Although it offers unlimited download and uploads, it does restrict you from using it when you are not connected to the internet. For those who are planning to use it on a regular basis, however, this isn't an issue since you can use the service without having to be online.
