Docktopus: Instant Performance Monitoring via the Dock

Have you ever wanted to access performance data about your apps without having to open the Activity Monitor? Docktopus is a Mac application that allows you to monitor various performance issues directly from the Dock. With Docktopus, you can easily drag and drop badges onto your Dock icons to receive alerts and information about CPU usage, memory utilization, and free hard drive space.
Docktopus offers a range of indicators that can be customized to meet your needs. For example, if you're concerned about Firefox consuming too much CPU and crashing, you can simply drag the CPU badge onto the Firefox Dock icon and set a specific CPU usage threshold. When the threshold is reached, a warning will appear on the Firefox Dock icon.
While Docktopus provides a convenient way to monitor app performance, there are some drawbacks. The accessibility of the badge pop-up menu is a bit awkward, as it requires clicking on a small Docktopus icon next to your Stacks. This icon may not be easily visible to all users. Additionally, I noticed a significant slowdown in my Mac's performance while Docktopus was running. Although it didn't consume much CPU, the performance returned to normal after removing Docktopus.
In conclusion, Docktopus is a great concept and can be highly useful for monitoring application performance. However, it needs to improve its accessibility and address the potential slowdown issues.
