If you're looking for a way to read comics on your Mac, Comical is a free, open source solution that does exactly that. Despite only being version 0.8, Comical is stable and effective. It is compatible with ZIP and RAR compressed files, as well as the more common CBR and CBZ comic book compressed formats.
Once installed, Comical allows you to easily open your comic files by double-clicking on them. The resizable Comical window provides a comfortable reading experience, allowing you to view single or double pages. You can also choose how Comical resizes your comic images as you resize the window, whether you want them to be stretched to fit or maintain their aspect ratio.
Comical offers a control bar that allows you to rotate pages and move between chapters and pages. You can also access these features with a right-click. The space bar can be used to flick through your comics, simulating page turning. Pages load quickly and seamlessly, ensuring a smooth reading experience.
While Comical lacks a simple zoom feature and a library for organizing your comics, it compensates with its speed and stability. Despite these minor drawbacks, Comical is a reliable option for Mac users looking for a fast comic book reader.
