Battlefield 1942 is an extremely popular online first-person shooter game developed by DICE. The game is available in single-player and multi-player mode and can be played for free on Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X or PlayStation 3. In single-player mode, players control either the MAC Airborne troops or the AI soldiers from the ground units of the United States Marine Corp. Players are also able to take control of tanks and armored personnel carriers, which are used to transport military troops and vehicles to the battlefront.

The player has the ability to choose different classes depending on their personality which include the Assault, Heavy weapons specialist, Support, and Medic. Each class has its own set of strengths and weaknesses that determine how effective they are when playing as a unit. Additionally, the player also has the option to play the game in both single-player and multiplayer modes. In multiplayer mode, players take on the role of a part in the fight against the Iron Legion. The first-person perspective of the player enables them to view every detail of the battlefield including enemy positions of friendly forces.

Two expansion packs can be purchased to add more to the already exciting game modes and playability. After the recent release of the second expansion pack entitled "GHOST Mode" which allows the player to take on the role of a Ghost alongside famous WW2 WWII leader General George S. Patton; "The Defiant Ones" and "Knights of the Burning Sands" will allow you to experience the thrill of authentic combat on the ground in all-new 4-player split-screen action.
